From the artist: "Fishermen" was inspired by many trips abroad, particularly to the Canary Islands and Greek Islands, where I so often see men fishing on rugged rocks right off the coastline. Sketched with ink and watercolour in January, 2025.

From the artist: Capturing the essence of the beach was the intent here, and bringing the heat through the picture. This couple is also interesting as we observe them in a private moment. Despite their leisurely surroundings, she is striding determinedly (is she angry or motivated? Or just highly energetic?) and he appears to be eating something or scratching his chin, perhaps at something she has said. There's a story here, but it's up the viewer to create it. Drawn in 2025 using ink and watercolour on watercolour paper.
